Trail Explorers are delighted to offer this stunning trip option for 2020/21.

We have the opportunity for guests to walk in the Abel Tasman National Park and stay at the luxurious Awaroa Lodge. No need for sleeping in tents and eating freeze dried meals when you can have a comfy bed and delicious meals accompanied by a wine or beer at the end of each day.

Awaroa Lodge is not accessible by road. You can only get there by walking or water taxi which makes it such a desired destination. There are not many opportunities to stay in 4 star comfort in one of NZ’s most visited national parks.

Itinerary:

Able Tasman National Park - 4 days/3 nights unguided

You will be walking sections of the track each day and returning back to Awaroa Lodge each night. At the end of the 4 days you will have covered the full 40+km track but only walked a maximum of 5 hours each day. Using Awaroa Lodge as a base means you only have to carry a day bag each day. However this is your trip. You have the option to take a day off in Awaroa to relax that’s absolutely fine. There’s plenty of options; you can hire paddle boards, go kayaking, or have a treatment at the day spa.

Trip Outline

Pick up from your accommodation in the Nelson area (7.30am) and drive to Kaiteriteri (You may wish to arrive in Nelson the day before your trip and stay in one of the stunning apartments on Kaiteriteri beach). Either way we will arrange your transfer.
Check in your luggage to be transferred to Awaroa Lodge
Water leaves Kaiteriteri at 9am on the first day and drops you into the National Park
Your daily walks are between 8 - 12km (3 - 5 hours walking) in a different section of the park each day utilising the water taxi to transfer you each day.
Over the course of the 4 days you cover 40km between Marahau and Totaranui
Each evening you spend at the beautiful Awaroa Lodge
On day 4 you finish in Marahau where one of the Trail Explorers team will be waiting for you and transfer you back to your Nelson accommodation
