Trail Explorers – About Us

Hi, we’re Matt and Rachael Watson and we own and run Trail Explorers. Both born in Nelson and fortunate to live in this beautiful part of New Zealand, surrounded by beaches, rivers, lakes and numerous national parks.

We have a life long passion for travel, and both travelled before we married. Since having children (Holly, Toby and Bella) we have continued to do so. We have had extended visits to Turkey, Cambodia, Vietnam , South America and Europe. As a family we have mountain biked on a volcano in Ecuador, Zip-lined in the Amazon rainforest, snorkelled with humpback whales in Tonga and hiked in the Italian Dolomites.

On our trips Matt has been able to enter some amazing races like The Great Wall of China Marathon and the Inca Trail marathon in Peru. There’s nothing like making the most of opportunities when your travelling.

We offer trips into two different locations: The Abel Tasman in Nelson, Tasman and the Queen Charlotte Track in Marlborough. These are both areas we spend a lot of time with our family. We are happy and feel privileged to be able to share them with you.
